Chrissy Brown
What advice would you give someone who is new to yoga or considering starting a practice?
Don't be afraid to try something new.
Can you share a memorable "aha" moment or breakthrough experience you have had through yoga?
The Idea that yoga really is a practice. You don't have to be able to do everything and it's not going to look perfect, but that's ok. You meet yourself where you are at and it's amazing to see how much you can grow with patience and just enjoying what you're doing.
How has yoga impacted your life on and off the mat?
My kids would say I'm way more "chill." But honestly, yoga has helped me find both a calmness and a sense of confidence in myself.
Are there any specific teachers, resources, or books that have influenced your yoga journey?
Every teacher I have met at Sukha has been amazing and each has their own unique personality and perspective that always makes you feel welcomed. I really appreciate how Amber instructs and builds her classes, the quotes and music that Megan shares, and Linda is probably the most genuine and calming person I have ever met.
Are there any specific yoga poses or practices that have been particularly transformative for you?
Yin has been a really transformative practice for me. It forces my mind to slow down and just be still. While flow classes are my favorite, Deep Stretch really helps me center myself and challenges me to let go.
What initially drew you to yoga and how has your practice evolved since then?
I took a yoga class in college and really enjoyed it, but life got away from me and I never found the time or right place to continue practicing. I was so excited to see Sukha open in Englewood and signed up for classes with my daughter. From that moment, everyone was so incredibly kind and welcoming and I knew I was hooked.
