Q-What Inspired you to be a yoga teacher?
A-I've been a bodyworker for over 15 years and continuing my education as a yoga teacher seemed like a natural fit. I encourage my massage clients to engage in yoga Asana (postures) and pranayama (breathwork) as it helps to improve their overall health. Practicing yoga reduces muscle tension and stress in the body so it makes my job as a massage therapist easier!
Q-Where and with whom did you train?
A-I trained in 2016-2017 at Day Yoga Studio with Devon Schmidt. Devon's program brings in multiple teachers from different styles of yoga. I'm so grateful that this is a really comprehensive training that teaches philosophy and different physical aspects of yoga.
Q-How do you continue to deepen your own practice?
A-I continue to deepen my own practice by studying the ancient yogic texts and attending workshops to continue to grow my understanding of yoga. I'm also currently enrolled in a 300hr yoga teacher training.
Q-How do you integrate mindfulness and spirituality into your teaching?
A-I integrate mindfulness and spirituality into my teaching by offering mudras (hand gestures), setting intentions, using Sanskrit ( the language of yoga) as much as possible, and offering space to my students to explore and check in.
