Selected Quote from Linda:
“The door to the world of the wild self are few but precious. If you have a deep scar, that is a door. If you have an old, old story, that is a door. If you love the sky and the water so much you almost can not bear it, that is a door. If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door.”
― Clarissa Pinkola Estes
Q-What inspired you to be a yoga teacher?
A-My own healing journey through the diagnosis of breast cancer in 2015. I began practicing yoga on a regular basis toward the end of my radiation treatments. My body was fatigued, and the stress had taken a toll on my mental health. Yoga provided a place on my mat to experience opening and release in my body, mind and heart space through breath work, gentle postures (asanas), and mindful meditations. The benefits I received on the mat followed me off the mat into my daily life as well. Life became more peaceful and manageable. This lead me to want to share this life-giving gift with others.
Q-Where and with whom did you train?
A-I completed my 200 hr training with Devon Schmidt of Day Yoga in 2022. I also completed an additional certification in Divine Sleep ® with Jennifer Reis in 2023 as well as Five Element Yoga® with Jennifer.
Q-How long have you been teaching and what styles of class do you teach?
A- I have been teaching since 2022. I currently teach Gentle, Restorative, and Yoga Nidra.
Q-How do you continue to deepen your own practice and knowledge?
A-I am a lifelong learner and honor the lineage of all those who have come before us and handed down these beautiful teachings. I continue to deepen my understanding of these offerings through certifications and trainings. I'm dedicated to my own meditation and asana practice and believe in the power of the beginner's mind.
Q-How do you integrate mindfulness and spirituality into your teaching?
A-I weave this in with grounding, centering, meditations. I invite in an awareness for those practicing with me to remember they are held by more than gravity. There is a deeply compassionate force shaping the container of our being, and within each of us lives a unique, divine spark that is our authentic self. The yoga mat is a beautiful, curious and inviting space to experience Connection, Peace, Understanding and Trust.
Q-What advice would you give to someone just starting their yoga journey?
A-There is no wrong way to do yoga. All parts of your body, mind, emotions, and story are most welcomed. Bring all to the mat. It's called a practice for a reason.
