Q-What styles of classes do you teach?

A-I have been teaching a faith based gentle yoga class since 2020. I love to teach a good Hatha or Slow Flow class where the students walk out feeling strong, steady, and comfortable in their bodies. I also love to teach children’s yoga because it can be much more light hearted and goofy than most adult classes.

Q-Where and with whom did you train?

A-At Lexington Healing Arts Academy, under Beth Connors-Manke and Connie Payne, I received my 200 hour YTT. I am currently working on my 500 hr YTT through Yoga Faith. I try hard to find a balance now between learning more and just being.

Q-What advice would you give to someone just starting their yoga journey?

A-I would tell a beginner to listen to their body! It’s the best teacher! Check in with it before class, after class and again the next day. How did the movements and breathing techniques change how you feel physically and mentally? Then allow that to guide you forward. Don’t get hung up on being perfect or the breathing. A yoga class is often more about greeting, learning about, and accepting your true self than it is about change.

Q-What Inspired you to be a yoga teacher?

A-I discovered yoga as a way to stretch after morning runs. Being a busy mom, I started integrating my prayers into the postures of my daily yoga practice to save time. It quickly became apparent that the spirit, breath, body connection in yoga would be key to deepening my faith. In 2019, my sweet husband surprised me by signing me up for teacher training. I couldn’t be more grateful.
